How I lead Product Design
Set the direction
Turn customer insight, business priorities and complex problems into a clear experience vision that gives teams a shared direction.
Raise the bar
Champion exceptional visual and interaction design, refining hierarchy, motion and detail while staying focused on the customer problem.
Build for scale
Create and evolve design systems, shared principles and standards that make quality repeatable across teams, products and platforms.
Make it happen
Partner early with Product and Engineering, stay hands-on with the hardest problems, and see delivery through so what ships lives up to the vision.
Grow people & practice
Lead with empathy and emotional intelligence: hire and coach designers, give clear, constructive feedback, and build a culture of ownership and continuous improvement.
AI and emerging tech
Use emerging tools to accelerate exploration and prototyping where they add genuine value, without compromising the quality of the final experience.

semantic design system
I kicked off my career as a designer and engineer in Nottingham, building for brands like Debenhams, Superdry and Ford. Moulding experiences and getting them shipped is still how I work today.
Since then I've led design across fintech, retail, education and now gaming. I work closely with Product and Engineering from the start, from vision to delivery, and everything in between.
I lead with empathy, and high emotional intelligence. I hire great people, give them room and trust, and back them. Some people need space to fly; others need more guidance and belief to reach their potential. I love enhancing how teams work: better process, less friction, a higher bar for quality.
Outside work I cycle, I'm new to golf (no comment on the handicap), and I live in the Peaks, where there's always a yomp nearby. Home is a smallholding with my wife, our cocker spaniel Crunchie and three horses.
What I want is simple: to build amazing experiences with great people, in teams where everyone feels supported, challenged and trusted, and where the work lives up to the ambition behind it.
